The Quarry: How to Unlock the Bizarre Yet Bonafide Achievement

June 10, 2022 by Thomas Wilde

You can’t hide the truth, Sheriff.

In the run-up to The Quarry‘s release, Supermassive has recorded and released a few episodes of Ryan’s favorite podcast, the investigative-skeptic vs.-believer show Bizarre Yet Bonafide. You can find and listen to some of it yourself in-game, but it takes a little work.

Here’s how to find an excerpt of the Hag of Hackett’s Quarry episode of Bizarre Yet Bonafide in The Quarry, and unlock the trophy/achievement of the same name. This involves mild but still significant spoilers for Chapter 7 of the game.

There’s a choice early in the game where Ryan can either eavesdrop on Chris’s phone conversation or listen to some more of his podcast. This doesn’t matter for the achievement, and may qualify as a red herring.

Instead, you have to wait until Chapter 7, when Laura has the chance to explore Travis Hackett’s rundown police station. In addition to a piece of evidence, a couple of clues, and a tarot card, you can find an excerpt from ByB that’s got Travis’s knickers in a twist.

His office can be found up a short flight of stairs from the main area. The door’s unlocked, but his computer isn’t. Fortunately, the password is just Travis’s birthday, because in addition to hunting, due process, interrogation, and werewolf lore, Travis is also awful at computer security.

Return to the main area and go up to the second-floor landing. The two clues you need are behind the first and third doors.

In the meeting room, read the birthday card that’s tacked to the wall, which will tell you how old Travis is. Fortunately, the card at least looks new.

In the abandoned office, read the calendar tacked to the wall in the corner to find out the month and day on which Travis was born.

You can now return to Travis’s computer and Laura will work out the password for herself. You’ll automatically receive credit for the Bizarre Yet Bonafide Podcast, which appears in the Hackett History section of your in-game Clues menu, as well as this trophy/achievement.

If you want to shave a couple of seconds off the overall run, you can break this sequence without obvious penalty. Check both the birthday card and calendar first, then go use Travis’s computer, and Laura will go ahead and input the password.
