Players in Destiny and its newest expansion pack, The Taken King, have discovered the first steps towards finding the game's most elusive weapon, Sleeper Simulant. Some elements of this guide are credited to redditors alexp1128 and kiki_strumm3er.
Unlocking The First Firewall
They have discovered that a quest called "The First Firewall" becomes available after players have found and turned in four fusion rifle relics to the Gunsmith. This mission unlocked today for everyone who already found and turned in these relics. You'll recognize these relics as those legendary "DVALIN" drops you sometimes get while on strikes or on patrol.
There's no way to check how many relics you've already turned in, so be sure to check the Earth Cosmodrome map for "The First Firewall" mission, as seen below:
You'll need to kil four waves of Knights (both Taken and Hive) until an Ultra named Kandorak appears. Kill him, or knights will keep spawning.
Completing the mission will give you something called the Curious Transceiver, a quest item.
Unlocking the Curious Transceiver
As you can see from the screenshot, the Curious Transceiver allows you to input a code of sorts. You'll need to input four sequential passcodes in order to unlock it. The passcodes are identical to the order inwhich the Knights spawn during The First Firewall mission.
Redditor kiki_strumm3er figured it out, so you don't have to:
Codes (top is 1):
1 2 1 1 2 2 2 1 2
1 2 1 1 2 2 1 1
1 2 2 2 1 2 2 2 1 1
1 2 1 2 1 2 1 1
Shadow Call
After you input all four passcodes, you'll unlock a new mission called Shadow Call, which requires you to go to the top of the Devil's Spire. This is the same location in which the Cayde's Stash mission takes place. You have to do so within a set time limit to collect an object called the IKELOS Fusion Core.
You'll need to run past a lot of the Taken except for a few wizards, who will be in your way. Make your way over to the elevator and you'll find a chest waiting for you at the top. Opening the chest will spawn three wizards. You'll have to kill them before time runs out, so use your sniper rifle or equip your sword.
Repairing the Fusion Core
Once you've collected it, you'll need to collect five modules scattered throughout the game, which can only be found by dismantling certain items and completing certain objectives.
Here's what you need to do:
Heavy Power Coupling – Dismantle any legendary or higher heavy weapon.
Ionized Shell Harmonics – Complete the Archives mission on Venus on any difficulty.
WARSAT//MK19/TERRA/RSPN – Complete a 'Defend the Warsat' public event on Earth.
WARSAT//MK19/LUNA/RSPN – Complete a 'Defend the Warsat' public event on the Moon.
WARSAT//MK19/MARS/CHLM – Complete a 'Defend the Warsat' public event on Mars.
Tracking Warsat events without a guide can be a fool's errand, so be sure to use destinypublicevents.com to track them as they happen and you'll have this part of the mission done in no time. Defending the Warsat during the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. mission does not count towards this.
Once you've found all the modules, return to the Gunsmith.
Final Steps
At this point, you'll receive a new quest from the Gunsmith called The Sleeper Stirs. To get it, you'll have to defeat The Fallen S.A.B.E.R. Strike at a much higher difficulty light level of 290, which shouldn't pose a problem to most hardcore players.
Simply finish the mission and you'll receive the Sleeper Simulant Weapon Frame. Turn it in to the Gunsmith in the Tower and he'll rebuild the Sleeper Simulant, an Exotic Fusion Rifle with 290 Attack. The weapon is capable of penetrating enemies and ricocheting off surfaces, making it one of the most powerful weapons for use in PVE.
