Best Characters You Don’t Want To Skip
Anna: A useful damage-dealer that can poison and perform hit-and-run attacks thanks to her ability to turn invisible. She has two actions per turn, and she has good mobility — making her perfect for going out on her own and harassing weak mages or archers.
- How To Unlock: Unlocks automatically.
Julio: A seemingly weak character, Julio is a support warrior that can give TP. His abilities to boost TP make him invaluable for rosters with multiple mages — eventually he can give +2 TP or take away TP from enemies. He can fight in a pinch, but his TP support is outstanding.
- How To Unlock: 275 Morality, 110 Utility
Medina: Another character that might seem too strange to use. Medina is a healer and +TP support character that’s even better than Julio. In the late-game when you have plenty of money for items, she can throw buffs, debuffs and healing to great effect. Give Medina a try and buy up tons of items. She’s incredibly good if you’re willing to spend money at the shop.
- How To Unlock: 500 Morality, 400 Liberty
Narve: The best all-around mage in the game, Narve can unlock all elemental magic types and even gain a group healing spell. Narve is squishy, so you’ll need to keep him in the back ranks — but his damage-dealing potential is pretty radical. An incredibly good pick to work with Frederica.
- How To Unlock: 110 Morality, 275 Liberty
Flanagan: A mobile tank that can also buff the defense of allies. Flanagan is a shieldbearer on a flying steed, giving him ridiculous mobility compared to Erador. While he doesn’t have the same insane defense Erador does, he can still provoke and lockdown enemies in hard-to-reach spots. Flanagan is incredible when paired with Erador.
- How To Unlock: 1050 Morality, 750 Utility
Maxwell: The best mobile damage-dealer in the game, Maxwell is like Roland on steroids. He can rapidly move around the map and strike enemies from behind — or attack multiple enemies with his spear. Like Roland, he’s very squishy so you’ll want to use his movement powers to their fullest so he doesn’t overextend himself.
- How To Unlock: 750 Morality, 1050 Liberty
Benedict: An incredibly useful support character for two reasons — he can spend TP to give another character an instant turn, or he can give another character double actions. These are game-changing abilities that unlock last, and even his damage buff is very useful for magic users that can spread damage around to multiple targets. Don’t sleep on Benedict.
- How To Unlock: Unlocks automatically.
Hughette: The best archer in the game can harass like no one else. Her ability to blind essentially makes archers useless for two turns, and her mobility stopping arrow is the perfect weapon against melee enemies. Hughette’s flight means she can perch on any nearby rooftops and gain huge range bonuses. She also just naturally gains more range as she levels up. Perfect for locking down the battlefield.
- How To Unlock: Unlocks automatically.
Rudolph: A different kind of Archer, Rudolph is better as a frontline combatant that directly supports your fighters. Rudolph’s Straight Arrow deals high damage, while his Slumber Arrow puts enemies to sleep — very good for mages. Rudolph can also set traps, which are invisible to enemies and will stop them in their tracks for a turn. If you can successfully guess where an enemy will go, place a trap and they won’t be able to attack.
- How To Unlock: Select to visit Aesfrost in Chapter 3.
Ezana: The weirdest character on the list, Ezana is a shaman that can summon storms. Like other mages, she’s a TP sink and needs help from Julio to keep her damage-dealing abilities ready. She can drop debilitating effects on enemies across the entire battlefield, and gains damage improvements through the blacksmith. Make sure to give her a try.
- How To Unlock: 400 Utility, 500 Liberty
