Hitman 3: 10 Tips To Become A True Silent Assassin | Beginner’s Guide

January 20, 2021 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Master the art of assassination with these 10 tips for new Hitman 3 players.

What You Need To Know About Earning Silent Assassin

We talked about how to earn Silent Assassin — you have to kill only the target with an undiscovered kill or with an accident kill. There are tons of weird little wrinkles to the Silent Assassin system, so let’s cover the details fast.

  • Silent Assassin rank is only earned if you kill only the targets. You can’t kill any other NPCs or enemies. Target bodies can only be discovered if you perform an accident kill.
  • Guards and other NPCs can be knocked out / subdued nonlethally. As long as you aren’t connected with the crime, you won’t void Silent Assassin if an unconscious NPC is discovered.
  • Poison counts as an accident kill. Poisoning food is a crime, so don’t let anyone see you do it.
  • If the target spots you, you can still retain Silent Assassin if you kill them quickly. If the target shoots or alerts other guards, you’re screwed.
  • It’s okay to shoot cameras! You won’t void Silent Assassin. If you’re spotted by a camera and don’t delete the evidence, you will void Silent Assassin.

It’s Okay To Commit Crimes — As Long As You Don’t Get Caught

The most complicated aspect of earning Silent Assassin is the nebulous “crime” — as the Hitman, you’ll have to commit multiple criminal acts to complete your objective. Entering a restricted area, wearing a disguise and being recognized, carrying a weapon openly — it all counts as a crime. But crime doesn’t wreck your Silent Assassin ranking. Getting caught does.

Here’s an example. If you’re exploring the map and want to get rid of a civilian in a public area, you’re free to shoot them in the legs to disable them. If you use a silenced weapon and nobody sees you commit the crime, it won’t hurt your ranking — even if an entire crowd of NPCs spots the downed civilian. Killing that same NPC would remove your Silent Assassin rank. If you don’t kill, you’re free to commit as many crimes as you want. Just don’t get caught!
