#6 Dying Light
Within Dying Light players take the role of an agent named Kyle Crane who is tasked with infiltrating a quarantine zone city of Harran. It was discovered that Harran had become infested with a virus turning civilians into ruthless zombies and you are stepping in to see what’s going on while also possibly turn things around. Interestingly enough, there’s a twist on the day and night cycle in Dying Light. During the day, the zombies are more lethargic and easier to deal with, though once the sun set’s they become more aggressive and harder to escape from.
Developers have also tossed in some parkour elements within the game allowing players to easily traverse the city and its obstacles when fleeing the undead hordes. Combat as well has been changed from the melee focus from what we saw within their previous release which was Dead Island.
#5 Telltale Games
Telltale Games had been around for several years before being defunct last year only to come back from the grave through another company purchase. Back in the development studio’s heyday, we’ve seen several iconic IPs get picked up and turned into an episodic adventure game. Those titles are worth enjoying today, although because of the studio closure, some games may not have the final closure for players such as Game of Thrones. At any rate, there are still some great takes to the likes of Batman and even The Wolf Among Us, a game that has been confirmed to see a sequel release.
While you can find several great Telltale Games to enjoy, there is one that stands out for players and managed to put the studio on the public’s radar and its The Walking Dead. We don’t have to tell you just how big of the IP The Walking Dead is and while the franchise has seen some video game titles, you’ll often find that Telltale Games’ take on the IP will be one of the most recommended. This series has several episodic installments that will follow out a young girl named Clementine. Taking place right at the start of the zombie apocalypse, Clementine is forced to grow up fast and survive against all odds. It’s an episodic game that will also play on various choices and consequences. The actions you take will ultimately have some sort of effect on the narrative. Best of all, you don’t need any real knowledge of the franchise to enjoy these games as they can be taken as a standalone experience separate from the comic book and television series.
