10 Silly, Un-Scary Moments In Extremely Scary Games | Easter Eggs, Jokes & More

July 1, 2020 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Enjoy a laugh with these utterly un-scary moments in the spookiest games around.

Fus Ro Dah [Condemned 2]

Unlike the other items on this list, this is a feature that instantly makes the twisted world of Condemned a whole lot less scary. Late in the game, your main character unlocks a powerful shout ability — no, it isn’t literally cribbed from Skyrim, but it’s all I can think about now!

Charged up, you can shout enemies into bloody mist with a single blast of your vocal cords. Before this reveal, Condemned is a relatively grounded adventure into the unknown, but after this shocking twist, you’re basically a superhero.

The Sinner’s Sandwich [Deadly Premonition]

Look. We’ve talked about this before. Deadly Premonition is an absurd game, and it’s full of funny details (both intentional and non-intentional) — it’s a Twin Peaks riff with lots of charm, but I don’t know what to make of the Sinner’s Sandwich. Is it a sandwich eaten out of penance, a reminder to improve your life? Or is it actually delicious?

I really have no words for this. Just watch the video clip above. And if you’re really curious, here’s a real-life human attempting to consume the Sinner’s Sandwich.

That’s another summer list down! It’s a perfect time to replay spooky games while we’re all stuck inside, experiencing extreme bouts of paranoia. At least these games have something fun to lighten the mood.
