Some of the most iconic abilities in XCOM: Chimera Squad have been seemingly removed from the game. None of the characters in the game can unlock ‘Lightning Hands’ — not even the sniper! And you won’t get shotgunners with ‘Run and Gun’. Some of my favorite killer abilities like ‘Rapid Fire’ and ‘Chain Shot’ are nowhere to be found.
Unless you’ve picked up the Epic Weapons. Epic Weapons are new unique guns that can be found in-game as a reward drop from marked missions, or available to purchase at the Black Market with intel. They’re totally random, so there’s no easy way to get what you want. At least with this guide you’ll know what weapons are out there, and which ones you’ll absolutely want to pick up.

Epic Weapons can be purchased at the Black Market, or found in special optional missions. Check missions every day to see if an Epic Weapon can be acquired as a reward.
Epic Weapons are (mostly) identical to standard weapons — they have the same damage and clip size. Epic Weapons are incredibly useful because they grant the equipped character a special ability.
All of these abilities are returning from XCOM 2. There are some amazing ones. Don’t miss out!
Epic Weapon | Unique Ability |
Crucial Symmetry [SMG] | Chain Shot: Take a shot with an Aim penalty of -15. If you hit the target, you take another shot on the target automatically. Chain Shot has a 3 turn cooldown. |
Surly Constant [SMG] | Hail of Bullets: Unleash a hail of bullets that is guaranteed to hit your target, but uses a lot of ammunition. Hail of Bullets has a 3 turn cooldown. |
Endless Brevity [Pistol] | Fan Fire: Fire the pistol three times at the same target. Fan Fire can only be activated once per mission. |
Artful Fathom [Pistol] | Lightning Hands: Fire your pistol at a target. This attack does not cost an action. Lightning Hands has a 3 turn cooldown. |
Impetuous Spire [Assault Rifle] | Banish: Fire at a target until you run out of ammo or it dies. Banish can only be activated once per mission. |
Fortunate Blossom [Assault Rifle] | Serial: A powerful chained shot ability. For every kill made with your assault rifle, your actions will be refunded. Serial can only be activated once per mission. |
Lonely Herald [Shotgun] | Run and Gun: Take an action after dashing. Run and Gun has a 3 turn cooldown. |
Callow Ember [Shotgun] | Rapid Fire: Fire twice in a row at an enemy. Each shot suffers an Aim penalty of -15. Rapid Fire can only be activated once per mission. |
There are eight Epic Weapons! Try to collect them all, and give your favorite abilities to your best characters. With some luck, you might be able to stop the secret plot to spread unrest in City 31.
