Fortnite: Chapter 2 – 10 Settings You Need To Change On Console To Improve Your Battle Royale Ranking

October 22, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Explore the new Settings in Fortnite: Chapter 2 with these community-driven tweaks.

Toggle On Visualize Sound Effects

This handy setting under ‘Accessibility’ adds a visual radial indicator for sounds, giving you visual reference to ‘see’ where enemy players are walking or shooting from. You don’t need to be deaf to make your life easier. This also makes playing in a quiet environment much, much easier — no headphones required!

And no, it does not disable audio. You’ll still be able to hear everything in-game. This setting is especially useful against boats; spot them from far away before you can even see / hear them normally. It does change the audio to mono instead of stereo, so you won’t be able to use it for spatial awareness. Test it and see if you like it.

Improve Your Sprinting With These Settings

Standard Sprinting sucks. Change these settings to get a much smoother experience — one that’s easier on your thumbs if you’re using a controller.

  • Toggle Sprint: On
  • Sprint Cancels Reloading: On
  • Controller Auto-Run: On
  • Auto Open Doors: On

In my opinion Toggle Sprint is absolutely required. Just tap once to start sprinting, and often you’ll find sprinting away from a deadly situation is more important than reloading. Let your Sprint Cancel Reloading and toggle that setting on. ‘Auto Open Doors’ is a maybe — it’s nice to sprint into a building, but don’t forget to close those doors!

Change Your Matchmaking Region

Don’t leave it at ‘Auto’ — swap to a server that’s closer to you. Auto usually picks the best server for you, but you might want to select a server that’s more specific to your location. It may take longer to get into a game, but it’s worth it for the improved performance.

Disable Vibration To Improve Controller Battery

The vibration is great for a little feedback, but it’s completely unnecessary for gameplay. It also drains your battery faster, so when you’ve had enough, just disable the setting under the ‘Game’ Tab, under ‘Feedback’ in the Settings menu.

Push Edit Mode Sensitivity To Max

Under the ‘Game’ Tab, there’s a specific sensitivity setting for Edit Mode. Try practicing with Edit Mode sensitivity maxed out — you’ll need to get used to how fast you move while Editing, but it’s a good way to improve your building skills and get stuff constructed. Building fast is a major part of this game, after all!
