NYCC 2018: Devil May Cry 5 Has Me Hyped for Early 2019

This was a standout title at this years NYCC

Capcom brought the heat this year at New York Comic-Con as they brought two absolute bangers to the con — Devil May Cry 5 being one of them. I’ll be honest I never got around to playing the original titles in the series, I jumped in at the DmC reboot and for the most part, I thoroughly enjoyed it. This latest title seems to blend the two entities in a better way you can even imagine.

Devil May Cry 5’s Demo at NYCC 2018 featured one of the three playable characters in the game — Nero. From my time with the demo, I’m going to assume he’s the middle ground character, he can use special abilities while also being able to bring hand to hand combat to a new level. The graphics are stunning and anyone passing the booth on the show floor did a double-take.

The demo was a good 15-minute length giving players enough taste of the game’s high-octane gameplay mechanics for them to be craving for more. And I was. The minute I was done my demo, I was thinking I can’t wait for this game to release. The demo showcased a little bit of everything, including an epic boss battle to end it all off. The gameplay is sort of chaotic and it felt right, you know? DMC is known for hack and slashes gameplay, but DMC 5 felt more deliberate, it felt that it wasn’t just button smashing and I was digging it. However, my time with the demo, I was a complete mess with the controls. This will most definitely take a couple of hours to find your stride, but once you do, I can imagine the game clicking on every level.

Leaving the demo booth, my hype for the game skyrocketed and I can’t wait to see this game finally released. Devil May Cry 5 is set to release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 8th, 2019. Are you excited for the upcoming entry in the series? Let us know in the comments below!
