Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – How To Get The Train Ticket | Progression Guide

June 20, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Solve ones of the many riddles in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night — here’s how to ride the train parked at the station.

Early in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, you’ll encounter a strange train station. To actually ride the train, you’ll need a special item — a Photo ID. Actually getting this item is slightly convoluted, as you’ll need to grab a special item, and talk to multiple characters in (and outside) the castle to finally get exactly what’s required to progress. Here, I’m going to explain every step you need to ride the train and reach two new areas of the game.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a successful Kickstarter project that spawned another awesome game in the form of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Both games are great for fans of retro Metroidvanias, or old-school 8-Bit platformers with a spike of difficulty, but Ritual of the Night is truly off-the-wall bonkers. It’s full of added features like hidden bosses, secret levels, extra systems, backer photos, and more — sometimes it looks like a complete mess, but there’s method to this game’s wacky madness. You just need to align yourself in the adventure’s oddball wavelength.

How To Get The Train Ticket | Progression Guide

Past the Garden of Silence, on the eastern reaches of the castle grounds, you’ll find a mysterious train station. Attempting to go through the gates, and you’ll be alerted that you need a special item — something to identify yourself with.

HINT: If you want to solve this mystery yourself, travel to the Livre Ex Machina and talk to the librarian. Talk to him multiple times for clues.

To get through the gates and ride the train to the Underground Sorcery Lab, you’ll need a Photo ID. There are three steps to getting it.

Step #1: Towers Of Twin Dragons – Defeat the Twin Dragons boss in the tower to get the photo solution chemical.

Step #2: Arvantville – Talk to the church representative, Dominique, to get your photo taken. With your new photo, you can complete the final step.

Step #3: Livre Ex Machina – Bring the photo from the church to the Librarian named OD. You can give him the photo, and he’ll craft the Photo ID.

With those three steps complete, you can travel to the train station and enter the gate. The train itself is a unique level, and leads to the Underground Sorcery Lab, where you’ll encounter a strange boss fight. Defeat the boss to unlock the Reflector Ray, a required movement power for progression.
