#19 Stardew Valley
- Developer: ConcernedApe
- Publisher: Chucklefish
Stardew Valley has been a huge hit that acts very much like the Harvest Moon franchise. This is a farming style simulation title where players take on the role of a character who inherits their grandfather’s dilapidated farm.
Again, much like Harvest Moon, the game will have players tending to crops and their livestock while also introducing craft goods, mining, among other social activities. Since its release back in 2016 the video game became a massive hit and has sold over three million units by the end of 2017.
#18 The Division 2
- Developer: Massive Entertainment
- Publisher: Ubisoft
The Division was a pretty popular online multiplayer video game title and in 2019 we received the second installment and for the most part, there has been some give and take. Players this time around take to Washington D.C. in order to get the area clear from domestic terrorists. Just because this game came out in 2019 doesn’t mean it’s not being supported. Thanks to the developers, we’re getting plenty of DLC content to go through.
Just as before, this is an action RPG that multiplayer-focused. With that said, this is a great title to explore as not only are you given a large open-world map, but the map is based on a very detailed replication of the D.C. area. Likewise, you’ll find that there will be a ton of buildings to explore which may include a variety of decent supplies and caches. You may find yourself wandering about to a mission only to get lost as you seek out more loot from nearby buildings and alleys.
#17 Borderlands 3
- Developer: Gearbox Software
- Publisher: 2K Games
Borderlands is an FPS that focuses on gathering loot and continuing to progress the story along in an over-the-top fashion. We recently received the third mainline installment which again is an action RPG FPS stays true to its roots by delivering fans quite the action-packed shooter. While you can play this as a solo experience, the game really shines with playing multiplayer experience. If you’re familiar with the game franchise, you’ll be taking on the role of a vault hunter, but you’ll be facing against a new foe, the Calypso Twins who are after the power of the vaults. There are some familiar faces, but overall, this is a new storyline featuring new characters so any references made to earlier installments won’t hinder your experience.
#16 Fallout 4
- Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
- Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
If you’re a fan of the Fallout franchise then it’s likely you’ve already picked up the latest release. However, if you’re completely new to the series, Fallout 4 still marks as a great first entry. Set during the events of a nuclear war, players manage to escape into a vault, only to awaken hundreds of years into the future. What’s left of your world is nothing more than decay and outsiders trying to make it by in this new world.
Each installment to the Fallout franchise manages to bring out an incredible wasteland to explore and Fallout 4 is no exception to that trend. You’ll come across old ruins, new structures, and a fleshed out cast of characters to meet along your journey.
