Quake Champions: How To Unlock Legendary Skins With Lore Scrolls

August 28, 2017 by Kevin Thielenhaus

If you’re looking for legendary skins in Quake Champions, you’ll need to find Lore Scrolls. Here’s how this weird system works.

Quake Champions is back to put some bang into modern FPS multiplayer. It might be a tribute to old arena shooters, but Quake Champions is still infected with those most modern of gaming conventions — yes, there are Legendary Skins, and there are collectibles. What makes Quake Champions unique is how you’ll get both of them.

Instead of appearing in singleplayer maps, or forcing you to explore, the Lore Scrolls are secret items that are totally up for grabs by everyone on a single map. The first to get the Lore Scroll wins, and the more Lore Scrolls you grab, the more Legendary Skins you’ll unlock. It’s not what we’re used to — players are still trying to figure out the ins-and-outs of this odd feature. Learn a little bit more about Lore Scrolls, and how to get them, with the guide below.

Quake Champions is still in early-access, so these feature might change before the game goes (fully) live later down the line. We’re crossing our fingers it stays the same.

How To Unlock Legendary Skins With Lore Scrolls

Lore Scrolls are special collectibles that drop randomly on each map. Only 1 Lore Scroll will spawn per match. And only 1 Lore Scroll can be collected — when someone grabs the Lore Scroll, it’s gone for everyone.

Everyone is competing for the same Lore Scroll. Like we said above, it’s totally random where the scroll will spawn. If you manage to collect a scroll, you’ll get a lore / artifact entry for a totally random character, too. Lore Scrolls appear in these objects:

  • Lore Scroll Spawns:
    • In gray / brown pots and urns.
    • In bookshelves.

Smash these objects and a Lore Scroll might drop. The location is random every match.

Break pots and urns that look like this!

If you were able to collect a Lore Scroll, a notification will appear in right corner of your screen, accompanied by a metallic sound effect. If another player gets it first, you’ll hear an announcement declaring that the “lore scroll has been found” — so don’t bother searching anymore.

  • Quick Notes:
    • 1 Lore Scroll can be found per match.
    • All players are competing for the same scroll.
    • Lore Scrolls drop from breakable urns / pots / shelves.
    • Lore Scrolls give a random character’s lore / artifact.
    • Lore Scrolls will not spawn in warm-up or custom games.

There are 110 Lore Scrolls in total. That’s a ton for such a random system. We wish you luck, champions.
