Halo 4 Dominion Mode Detailed, Includes Large-Scale Battlefields

The upcoming Dominion mode for Halo 4 adds an entirely new dimension to multiplayer gameplay.

343 Industries has released a brand new video of Halo 4 showcasing the game’s Dominion mode, which is a part of Halo 4’s new multiplayer experience, also known as Wargames. 

Dominion is basically a team oriented mode where each team is trying to capture a series of bases and hold them for points. As each base is captured, it then goes through a period of time where it fortifies with a host of defensive measures including shields and turrets, making it easier for the team possessing the base to hold onto it.

The base capture process is just a matter of heading to its core and triggering it. The whole process takes less than fifteen seconds, giving opposing players a small window of opportunity to deny the attacking group their claim on the base and revert the capture. 

As a base remains in the possession of a team, it will be subject to being resupplied by new weapons over time, giving players within an advantage over their opponents. 

Halo 4

More than simply offering players some cover from enemy fire, bases also contain vehicle pods to conjure up vehicles to use on the map. 

Dominion maps will be available in a myriad of sizes, ranging from the very large—to accommodate large-scale vehicle combat—to the relatively small, for highly intense close quarters battles. 

With regards to the video, the player can be seen using a variety of weapons. Notably, the player picks up the Spartan Laser for its effectiveness against vehicles. 

Also showcased in the video is the addition of a new Deathcam system, which plays after you die and depicts how you were killed by your opponent. The Deathcam is only available in some modes, allowing players to learn how they were killed and apply their knowledge in future battles. 

Halo 4 is set for a November 6 release on the Xbox 360.
