Monthly Content and Challenges Will Be Available for Assassin’s Creed 3

September 3, 2012 by Patricia Hernandez

Assassin’s Creed 3 will have additional content according to Ubisoft.

Following the trend of titles providing material in monthly installments after launch–like Halo 4–Assasin's Creed III also promises to keep players busy well after launch. Today multiplayer developer Annecy stated that ACIII will feature a bigger multiplayer focus, both in scope and in support.

The premise sounds like a plausible one, too. The Animus has turned commercial, and consumers are able to relive the past in high definition. I think it's likely the Animus would be used like that were it real, right? Anyway, through that, Ubisoft will have the neccesary context to provide new challenges and content every month. "As you progress in the game and level up your character, you access these files and videos. Every month you'll have new challenges to unlock new content that will continue the storyline throughout the year," Annecy stated. No season pass for this content exists as far as we know, which is strange, as it seems fitting.

In terms of improvements, the multiplayer stages will now have special level-specific effects, like weather effects (say, rain or blizzards). These will affect the player's visibility and perhaps other things. Also present will be the ability to score environmental kills, kind of like Uncharted 3 and Sleeping Dogs. Both will work together to provide a more complex multiplayer experience.

Two modes are known: wolfpack and domination. The former introduces wave-based co-op, and the latter has four vs four team-based mode. As launch looms closer and closer, we can probably expect Ubisoft to stop focusing so much on the single player and regale us with information on the multiplayer.
