Just a month after Lead Gameplay Designer for Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 David Golfarb resigned from DICE to join Starbreeze, we now have confirmation that another tenured member of the studio has now left the company.
Patrick Liu, senior producer at DICE, has now left the studio to join Angry Birds developer Rovio's Stockholm branch.
Liu, who was the senior producer for Battlefield 3 and acted as producer for the 2010 Medal of Honor reboot, confirmed this move over on Twitter where he was greeted warmly by Rovio Stockholm general manager Oskar Burman.
Burman tweeted this announcement:
Excited to finally reveal our first hire! Game developer legend@pottan will join as Creative Directorof Rovio Stockholm! Couldn't be happier having Patrick as my right hand…
Liu confirmed this announcement with a tweet of his own, stating:
Together with @oskarburman I will be heading up Rovio Stockholm as Creative Director. Super stoked to start to new a studio! #Rovio feels awesome, can-do mentality, big ideas, agile, empowering, disruptive. Looking forward to new and exciting challenges.
While people jumping from one studo to another isn't exactly new within the industry, should Battlefield fans be concerned that two senior members of the staff have left within a two-month period or maybe they're just tired of developing games that go pew-pew, no?
Thanks, MCV
