The first roadblocks you’ll experience in Let It Die are the deadly middle bosses — those aggravating, brutal opponents that appear every few floors to menace your Fighters. Unlike Dark Souls, you can’t simply retry battles. The more you lose, the more resources you’ll waste. That’s why it helps to know your opponent ahead of time. Don’t rush blindly into battle against the mid-bosses of Let It Die. Get all the strategies you’ll need to defeat every type.
Middle Bosses are a little different from the large-scale Don boss battles you’ll encounter at the top of each section of the Tower or Barbs. Mid-Bosses are reoccurring opponents that block the main route, and some can be spectacularly tough if you don’t bring the right equipment. Save yourself some heartache (and a lot of Kill Coins) with the boss battle strategies below.

How to Defeat Every Mid-Boss In The Tower | Boss Guide
Mid-Bosses appear on bloody floors in the Tower of Barbs. If you encounter a floor that’s caked with blood top-to-bottom, that means you’re about to encounter a boss battle. Like regular enemies, Mid-Bosses respawn if you leave the tower and return to this floor, so you can fight them multiple times if you want to practice.
Mid-Bosses come in a variety of forms. They will reappear across multiple floors. Watch out for large arenas, and also seek out the elevator switch before rushing into a Mid-Boss battle. When you encounter a Mid-Boss, the exit gates will close. The gate switch won’t activate until the Mid-Boss is defeated.
COEN
The first middle boss, COEN, is an impressive mound of flesh. It looks menacing, but once you understand its pattern, it won’t pose much of a threat.
- First Appearance: 3F TAMATA
- Boss Strategy:
- COEN is blind and attacks based on sound. If COEN loses track of you, it will roar — a ghost image of your Fighter will appear where it spot you. COEN will charge this location, so get moving!
- COEN has two attacks — a two-punch combo, and a ground stomp. Bait these attacks out by standing near COEN and running out of its range.
- To defeat COEN, follow this pattern: get close to COEN to bait a two-punch or a ground stomp, then rush in and attack.
- Only attack COEN with one or two attacks. COEN will recover and counter-attack quickly.
- Always attack COEN from the side or the back. It takes a few moments for COEN to turn to face you. Attacking from the side seems to avoid ground stomp counter-attacks.
- When you finish your one-or-two attack combo, dodge away from COEN.
- COEN’s most powerful attack is the ground stomp. Stay a good distance when COEN jumps — the first three AOE bursts are extremely close to COEN, but the fourth is much wider and can hit you if you’re standing too close. This is by far COEN’s most dangerous attack, so learning to avoid it is important.
JIN-DIE
JIN-DIE is a far deadlier opponent than COEN, and unleashes an arsenal of ranged attacks. Use cover, and come prepared with plenty of long range weaponry.
- First Appearance: 5F MOKA-MAGOME
- Boss Strategy:
- JIN-DIE scans the arena with lasers to spot your Fighter. Stay behind cover. It’s the only way to avoid her many, many different ranged attacks.
- Annoyingly, JIN-DIE also teleports instantaneously around the room. The teleporting seems random, so it might appear behind you. Watch the laser targeting system to see if you’re exposed, and quickly dive behind cover.
- Watch for the exploding heads. These grenade-like bombs make large explosions, and flash red where they land. Stay out of the blast radius, you’ll take damage even if you’re hiding behind a column.
- There is a safe spot in her arena — the shack in the bottom-left corner. Hide behind the shack. From here, you can shoot at her. She’ll have a harder time hitting you.
- Alternatively, you can bum-rush her in melee combat. Hide and wait for JIN-DIE to teleport near you, then attack. Focus on fast attack weapons like the machete. One attack will stun her, allowing you to follow-up with a three-hit combo.
- Retreat after landing a melee combo, and patiently wait for her to appear near your Fighter again. Both the close-range and long-range methods require patience.
- A leveled-up Striker class Fighter will help immensely for battles against JIN-DIE. The extra damage output is almost required.
- Once JIN-DIE’s health is low, she will teleport to the upper section of the arena. Sprint to the top and hide behind a pillar between the wall. From here, wait until she teleports near you to strike.
GOTO-9
The in-human, four-legged GOTO-9 is dangerous to under-leveled fighters. Bring a Rank 2 Fighter and level up to make this battle much more manageable.
- First Appearance: 11F
- Boss Strategy:
- Stay away from the front of this creature. It will perform a headbutt when standing directly in front, so always attack from the sides or back.
- The headbutt has a quick recovery time. Don’t attack yet!
- It will also strike forward with its tongue. The attack hits anything within the forward arc, so dive to the left or right. There’s plenty of time to attack after this move.
- When it reels back, GOTO-9 will barf acid. This is a slow attack, easy to dodge and should give you time to get in a few hits.
- If you’re standing behind or to the side, GOTO-9 will launch into the air and crash down with an AOE hit. The AOE is pretty small, only slightly larger than the creature’s hit box. Dodge backwards when it leaps up.
- The last attack is a spinning corkscrew charge. Dodge left or right, and be prepared for a second or third lunge attack in succession. It only uses this move when it is almost defeated.
- This battle is very similar to COEN. Have patience, bring a few healing items, and attack with 1 or 2 hits during openings. The best openings are during the tongue attack, during the acid attack, or right after it lands with a ground pound.
- Stay away from the front of this creature. It will perform a headbutt when standing directly in front, so always attack from the sides or back.
