Currently on kickstarter, Tanglewood is Big Evil Corporation’s homage to SEGA classic platformers like Sonic the Hedgehog and The Lion King. Unlike many other 2D platformers being released today, Tanglewood developer Matt Phillips is planning to release the game on Sega Genesis and Sega Mega Drive.
Players control a small, vulpine creature called Nymn, who has been separated from her family and needs to safely navigate her way back home. When night falls, the ‘Djakk’ materialise, fearsome beasts with an insatiable appetite for creatures just like Nymn, and so the task falls on you to protect her from harm.
At the time of writing, Tanglewood has reached £34,347 of its £48,000 funding goal. It is due to release in winter 2017 for PC, Mac and Linux in addition to the physical cartridge formats for Sega Genesis and Mega Drive.
The game is being created with the original development tools used for SEGA games. Those interested in learning more about Sega Game Coding can do so right here.
