Paul Dini, writer of Rocksteady's universally-acclaimed Batman games — Arkham Asylum and Arkham City — won't be back to pen further iterations of the game's universe.
Now, before anyone jumps to conclusions, Rocksteady or Warner Bros. has not announced, confirmed, denied or hinted at a new Batman Arkam game. Dini just admits that if they are working on one, he's not involved with it whatsoever — at least for now, anyway.
Also, this reveal did not happen from an official press release from Warner Bros. or Rockteady, but from Dini's Twitter account.
Here's the tweets where this was revealed (courtesy of ArkhamCity.co.uk)
If you enjoyed both Batman games' story, then there is a little ray of hope. Dini admits he loved writing the first two and he'd write more if "he could but it's not his call."
Aside from the Rocksteady Batman games, Dini has also written and produced numerous shows; a few of them are the timeless Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League (and Justice League Unlimited), Batman Beyond and more.
While we still don't know what Rocksteady is up to at this point, or even if their next game will be another Batman game, let's just hope this isn't the last time Dini involves himself with videogames.
