If you somehow missed this year's E3, then you might not know that the UFC license is now under EA and its EA Sports label. Now we even know who's developing the game itself.
No, it won't be the studio behind EA MMA (EA Tiburon), but instead, will be EA Canada, which develops EA Sports' Fight Night boxing game.
In addition to this, the UFC's license's induction within the studio has created what's dubbed the "Fighting Team" division. The creative director of this fighting team is Brian Hayes, who's also the gameplay design lead for Fight Night Round Three and Fight Night Champion. Hayes also acted as general manager for SSX and the NHL brand, too.
However, it seems like we're quite far off from actually seeing the fruits of their labors as Hayes admits, "Most of the team didn't even know about [the new UFC game] until the announcement at E3, and adds that they were watching it all together when Andrew Wilson (EA Sports boss) took to the stage with UFC president Dana White and that's when everybody started cheering.
While we know who's developing it, no other details are known at this time. I mean, we're not even sure if the UFC game will be releaed for the current generation of consoles.
Did you like Fight Night? Is this a good or bad thing that they're the ones developing EA UFC?
