If you’ve been playing Battlefield 1, you’ll have noticed the abundance of locked squads. As it is, whenever you join a game with a friend, it automatically locks the squad the both of you are in, preventing anyone else from joining up with you within the game proper.
This is because the game automatically creates a locked squad for you and your pals when you enter into matchmaking. Not a lot of people know this, so if you’re soloing the game, it can be hard to find a squad to join, which can be a bit of a nightmare if you want to complete some of the squad-based challenges.
To that end, DICE has stated on Reddit that it is going to rework the system and fix it in an upcoming patch so squads aren’t automatically locked.
DICE did not say when they intend to deploy the update, but it should be soon.
