Metal Gear Solid 4 is getting a trophy patch. It's been four years, four years of bitter disappointments in which Konami reps have repeated things like "we're definitely looking into it," but in the end things have worked out for the better. The patch adding trophies to the game won't just be adding virtual awards – there's something more practical: there will also be an option to install all portions of the game in one shot.
The original way of doing things involved installing textures for each chapter as that chapter came up. The first chapter installed more or less everything needed throughout the game, including, I believe, the bits and pieces for MGO. It took about eight minutes, with following installations taking anywhere from a minute and a half to six minutes. The option to install the whole game in one block will no likely cut interruptions in the game, but unless things are changed might mean you have to wait 20 minutes to get started.
The news of a full install was run by Andriasang, based upon a listing at KonamiStyle, although it's worth noting that the install won't necessarily be in the patch. There's no reason that it shouldn't be but until Konami announces exactly what's in the patch, there's a small chance this feature will be in the re-release only.
