Skylanders has been a well-received video game and toy hybrid franchise. The video game franchise first debuted into the market in 2011 with its latest release, Skylanders: SuperChargers, launching just under a year ago, September 25, 2015. Through the game’s success, Netflix has picked up an animated kids series based off the game which will be available for its subscribers next month.
The animated series is known as Skylanders Academy and so far Netflix has picked up two seasons. Kids can enjoy the first season, in its entirety, on October 28, 2016, with the second season debuting in late 2017.
According to the series summary, the show will follow Spyro and his fellow Skylanders as they join forces to protect their world from the evil-doer Kaos and the Doom Raiders.
So far it’s been revealed that Justin Long will be voicing Spyro while Ashley Tisdale, Johnathan Banks, Norm Mcdonald, Richard Horvitz, Ellis Greg, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Catherine O’Hara will be lending their talents for other notable characters within the series.
While there are only two seasons scheduled so far from Netflix and Activision Blizzard Studios deal, depending on the success of the show could sway creators to continue the series with additional seasons.
As for the video game franchise, the next installment for Skylanders will be launching next month as well, starting on October 13, 2016. The video game is known as Skylanders: Imaginators where players can create their own unique characters to use in the game.
