The 2005 game Star Wars: Battlefront II was fondly remembered by many for the epic space battles that unfolded. The fight between the Rebellion and the Empire seemed endless, with satisfying explosions being part of the gaming community’s vivid memories of the experience. When the series was recently revived by Electronic Arts and DICE, one of the biggest letdowns was that players couldn’t see the glory of this zero-gravity chaos in the current generation of video games.
But the trailer for the upcoming Battlefront Death Star DLC is sure to give Battlefront fans a new hope. Check out the trailer for this third expansion to the game.
The video description tells us what’s in store for the DLC’s five new maps.
Players will experience five new maps – on ground and in space – new weapons and Star Cards and two new heroes, the fearsome bounty hunter Bossk and everyone’s favorite Wookiee, Chewbacca. Board the Death Star and blast foes with the new K-16 Bryar Pistol or TL-50t Heavy Repeater. Take your Starfighters to space in an all-new game mode and even hop into the cockpits of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced or Luke Skywalker’s Red Five X-Wing. If the Force is strong with you, attempt a trench run to take down the Empire’s ultimate weapon.
That’s right. Soon you’ll be able to take the helm of your favorite X-Wing or TIE Fighter and dive into space battles. The trailer depicts some sort of skirmish taking place in the area around the Death Star. The Empire is rushing to defend their doomsday weapon, as the Rebellion is swooping in to blow it up. For those of you who wanted more action on-foot, the Battlefront Death Star DLC has that here as well. We see the rebels breaching the Death Star docking bay directly, and gunning down Empire forces as they try and establish a foothold inside the base. In the fray, we see Bossk and Chewbacca fighting their way through battalions of soldiers themselves. They’ll be both be playable heroes in this new content pack.
Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 20th for Season Pass holders. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
