It appears that Sony is jumping on the ebook bandwagon reports MCV. How they obtained this information is unknown, but the information they do have is specific. Apparently the PS3 and PS Vita will be getting the ability to let users purchase ebooks from the PSN and view them on their system. This so called initiative will be called “Storyteller” and is apparently aimed at children.
This is quite an interesting turn for Sony but not a surprising one. Consoles are becoming more and more like media devices, no longer are they exclusively for video games. However I don’t think Sony will get too far if they limit their selection to books aimed at children. I highly doubt children will be using their PS Vita for reading. So in essence the service would most likely be almost unused. We will see soon enough what’s going on with this ebook service since Storyteller will apparently be announced at E3.
