A tweet from Keiji Yamagishi today revealed that he is currently working on a “new project related to Ninja Gaiden“. We will expect more information to be released sometime next month. Mr. Yamagishi has been a video games music composer since the mid-1980’s and worked on the very first Ninja Gaiden game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. He also worked on classics like Tecmo Bowl, Captain Tsubasa II & III, Ninja Gaiden III and Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. An interesting thing to note is that Mr. Yamagishi never worked on a Ninja Gaiden game with Team Ninja before.
I’m pleased to announce that I’m working on a new project related to Ninja Gaiden. I’ll be able to share more news in July! 😄

For all we know right now, this could be anything. It could be an anime, movie, or even a compilation album of Ninja Gaiden tracks. Team Ninja hasn’t commented on this project as of yet.
Mr. Yamagishi has been working on his own game-related music albums called Retro-active with Retro-Active Pt. 1 released in February last year and Pt. 2 released in February 2016. The albums were highly inspired by the early days of 8-bit gaming and their music styles. This new Ninja Gaiden project could very well be a new compilation album inspired by those games. Either that, or a re-imagining of the classic Ninja Gaiden? We can only speculate for now.
