Resident Evil 7 Demo Is Not From Main Game

June 15, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

The demo is standalone to showcase the horror aspect of Resident Evil 7.

It’s not shocking at the very slightest that the Resident Evil 7 reveal has turned quite a few heads. There has been plenty of rumors and speculation pieces about Capcom going back to their classic days of Resident Evil before the franchise took a turn towards an over-the-top action setting. Fans of the franchise may be going through the demo and hunting down the various endings, but don’t expect that content to be in the main game.

According to an interview between Polygon and Capcom’s Koshi Nakanishi, the Resident Evil 7 demo was not from the main game but a standalone experience. This was an example of what gamers can expect from the upcoming survival-horror title, similar to P.T., but unlike P.T., Capcom doesn’t have plans to remove the demo from the PlayStation Store.

Since the Resident Evil 7 reveal, it’s been a debate online on the overall first-person perspective. The decision to take the game and put players into a first-person view was Capcom’s way to best express the horror feeling they are trying to convey.

Although the first-person view may be a bit different compared to the main installments to the Resident Evil franchise, gamers can still expect to see some familiarity such as healing herbs. Additionally, the demo failed to showcase a means of defense against the enemies, that’s an aspect that will be present within the game, but we’ll have to wait a little bit longer before we can see it in action.

Gamers can pick up Resident Evil 7 on January 24, 2017, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
