We got to see another Final Fantasy XV trailer during the Sony press conference at E3 this year. The game has been in development since 2006 and was first announced as a PS3 exclusive. However, after a series of changes and delays to the game it ended up on the current generation of consoles.
The trailer showed some of Final Fantasy XV’s diverse environments. The journey will take us from open deserts, thick forests, to busy metropolitan cities. We got to see some of the creatures as well. The colossus enemies look like they’ll be fun encounters. We also got a brief look at the chocobos in the game, along with different modes of transportation such as by car or some sort of an airplane.
The part that interested us the most was how they added Playstation VR capabilities to the game as well where you get to look through the perspective of one of the characters. I can’t help but feel like it seems a bit too gimmicky, but somehow I do want to try it before casting any judgement. Shooting huge monsters or exploring the worlds of Final Fantasy XV within VR does sound interesting, but I’m afraid that they jammed the feature in late in the development cycle. Let’s hope they make it work as good as they intend to. If not, Final Fantasy XV looks pretty good even without VR.
Final Fantasy XV will be released on 30 September, 2016 on Xbox One and PS4.
