It was one of the last things mentioned in the Ubisoft Press Conference before the end of the show. Ubisoft’s CEO was proud to announce what he considered to be a new action sports genre to video games, headlined by this new title called Steep. There really isn’t much of an objective or overall mission to the game besides having fun in the game’s environment.
Steep is an open world experience where you traverse the mountains of the world by skiing, using your wingsuit, paragliding, or sliding down the slopes on your snowboard. It can be played both as a singleplayer and multiplayer title, but as you can imagine the online features have a lot to offer in Steep. Players can drop in and out of their friend’s playthroughs, and even challenge the rest of the world to do some sort of insane stunt they recorded themselves doing during gameplay.
The world isn’t just a bunch of snowy mountains, don’t worry. Forests, cliffs, and lakes dot the landscape – which means while you can shred the slopes on your snowboard, you can also fly over canyons in your wingsuit, and take in the game’s atmosphere. The environment itself is dynamic, with day and night cycles and weather conditions creating a different experience across multiple playthroughs. You’ll be able to customize the gender, race, and outfits of your riders, as well as pick the perfect outfit to wear for your adventures.
Steep arrives Winter 2016 to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
