The Game Awards just set up their rules to add GTA 6 to the show this year.

The organization just updated their FAQ section with this information:
Games must be made commercially available to customers on or before Friday, November 20, 2026, at 9 p.m. PT. In the Players’ Voice category, games must ship on or before November 30, 2026.
Of course, Rockstar decided to pin down GTA 6’s release date to November 19, 2026. Earlier this year, Alanah Pearce pointed out that this release date is too close to the show. At the time, she pointed out that there would not be enough time for reviewers to play the game and decide its eligibility for nominations and awards.
We just reported on rumors that Rockstar will release review copies before October ends, to give reviewers enough time to review the game before launch. It looks to us like both Take-Two and The Game Awards saw Alanah’s video, and made the necessary changes so that GTA 6 could make it this year after all.
