Square Enix is fighting back on misinformation casting doubts about its future.

As reported by Automaton, the company has categorically denied that it plans to go private. This is a flat denial of an earlier report from Japanese monthly magazine Sentaku.
Sentaku claimed that the rumor carried more credibility now than at any point prior. It also seemed to have led to a rise in Square Enix’s stock price.
One may wonder why Square Enix would not just want their stock price to stay up, but things are of course not so simple. In this case, Square Enix is currently facing challenges from 3D Investment Partners, a so-called activist investor who’s become notorious for taking over companies by getting to their shareholders.
Square Enix just made multiple announcements for Kingdom Hearts, and are set to present Final Fantasy VII Revelation in tomorrow’s State of Play. They also updated the public on Dragon Quest XII: Beyond earlier this year.
Regardless of how one views Square Enix’s financials, one can’t say that they have no plans to fix it, to the point that they need intervention.
