Disney and Square Enix have revealed Kingdom Hearts The Series at D23.

This is a new animated show coming to Disney Channel and Disney +. Disney will be working with Square Enix, particularly Tetsuya Nomura.
Interestingly, the show will have a:
…brand-new story that will expand the universe of Kingdom Hearts while celebrating the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world.
Tetsuya Nomura, of course, is one of Square Enix’s veteran developers, particularly known as director and character designer on the Kingdom Hearts franchise since 2002.
That’s all we know for now, so we don’t even know what animation studio or studios are working on this show. But since Square Enix and Disney just revealed Kingdom Hearts 4’s release date, the show may already be finished or finishing production and releasing in time to capitalize on that game’s release.
This may be an opportunity for Square Enix to tell a story that can’t be told in video game form, or it could be Disney’s own initiative. We’re certainly looking forward to when the show actually gets revealed.
