Nintendo fans are waiting eagerly for that next big Nintendo Direct. We haven’t had one dedicated to just the first-party games coming out in a good while. In the more recent past, we’ve had partnered showcases and even showcases specifically dedicated to upcoming video games.
However, that hasn’t stopped the buzz from spreading online about what could be coming our way soon. A new rumor has started to circulate online about the supposed leaked Nintendo Direct date that is happening next month. Of course, treat this as nothing more than a rumor, as we’ll have to wait for Nintendo to confirm the date officially.
Nintendo To Hold A New Direct This September

Thanks to VGC, we’ve learned that their sources confirmed that a Nintendo Direct presentation is coming on September 12, 2025. Now, we’re used to seeing Nintendo Direct presentations in September. That’s nothing new, but at least now we have a potential date we can attach to the presentation.
What we don’t have right now is any insight into what is being showcased during this presentation. One popular game that is likely to appear is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. We’re still waiting for that game, and it just recently received ratings from both ESRB and PEGI.
Meanwhile, in other related news to Nintendo, supposedly, there were dev kits that were held back that would limit third-party games this year. That’s just a rumor, but it might help Nintendo focus more on the first-party lineup a little longer.
Again, we’ll have to wait for Nintendo to unveil the next Nintendo Direct to confirm the release date being shared online. However, Nintendo is typically pretty tight-lipped about these presentations and generally only reveals the date a day or two ahead of time. Of course, we’re sure that there are still quite a few consumers looking to secure a unit, as this has been a hot ticket item since it launched on June 5, 2025.
