Is Titanfall 3 a thing or not? Very famous and prominent video games media personality Jeff Grubb has very visibly declared that it isn’t a thing.
And yet, sometimes Grubb is wrong, and sometimes he’s just out of the loop on what other people know. Today, there’s just one more reason to believe that EA is really bringing back the famous multiplayer mech shooter.
We know that the Titanfall 3 rumors have been going for a while, but we’re focusing on the rumors that started this month, because they come from a specific group of people. Osvaldatore shared evidence to YOROTSUKI_, and then they shared information with Rebs Gaming. All three have their own sources and after talking, Rebs went public with their collective claim that the game is real.
Osvaldatore also responded to Grubb’s debunking of their rumors. He assured fans that not only does his source vouch for this information, but his source also told him the game’s announcement and release dates. He went on to share other details about the game, but made it clear that he’s not revealing the dates for obvious reasons. We have to assume he means he’s protecting his source’s identity, or he doesn’t want to ruin the game’s marketing, or a little bit of both.
That takes us to today. Apex Legends and Helldivers content creator Thordan Smash said this on Twitter:
“Ehh, fuck it. After talking to a few sources (including @YOROTSUKI_), I’m about 75% sure Titanfall 3 is actually in development. From what I’ve heard, there’s even a playable version floating around. No clue on a timeframe yet, but it’s real.”
You don’t have to tell us that these are bold claims, and the fact that it’s been returning may indicate it isn’t just idle talk. There are two possibilities here; either these somewhat obscure personalities and content creators are conspiring to create a fake rumor, or these people have evidence that is that compelling.
And these rumors can turn out correct without Titanfall 3 managing to get released, but these murmurs must be persisting for a reason. Either, once again, a bunch of people are trying to build a hoax rumor, or EA and possibly Respawn have been discreetly working on this, alongside all the other projects that Respawn has in the works.
And one may argue that Respawn would be stretched thin with all the projects they have, but it absolutely is possible that they have Iron Man, Star Wars Zero Company, a Star Wars Jedi game, and also Titanfall 3. Because that would be a perfect fit for the untitled game currently headed by Steve Fukuda, lead designer of the Titanfall franchise.
Grubb may insist his sources tell him otherwise, but short of EA and Respawn nipping this rumor in the bud, there’s just too much circumstantial evidence to throw it away. We’ll see if the fans’ fervent hopes will come true under Fukuda in the future.
