We’re fresh into 2025, and plenty of anticipated games are already on the horizon that we can’t wait to pick up and play. However, alongside those games are several presentations and media events. January might see the third annual Xbox Developer Direct. If a new tease from an industry insider is to be believed, Microsoft might be keen on announcing the next Developer Direct tomorrow.
Thanks to Reddit, we’re finding out that industry insider eXtas1s has mentioned on X that an announcement is coming tomorrow for something happening on January 23, 2025. That has left most fans anticipating that Microsoft will officially announce a Developer Direct presentation at the end of this month. That would make it the third annual event for this new series of presentations Microsoft had recently brought out.
If you don’t recall, Microsoft first introduced this event for fans to tune into in January of 2023. It was announced to be a showcase to help highlight some of the games currently being worked on at the various studios under Xbox. This continued with a similar Developer Direct presentation in January of last year.
We’re expecting another Developer Direct presentation event this year, but Microsoft has yet to officially confirm one. That might change tomorrow, and if that’s the case, we can expect a similar experience to the past two years. We’ll likely get a few games highlighted with some updates on the progress developers have been making.
These presentations are usually under an hour long, so don’t anticipate anything as expansive as an Xbox Games Showcase. We might even get a heads-up on what games, in particular, will be highlighted at the Xbox Developer Direct. Again, this is not official at the moment, so we’ll need to wait until tomorrow to see if the folks at Xbox make an announcement.
