Mobile gaming is massive. Everyone has a phone in their pockets, whether it’s Android or iOS. So, it doesn’t surprise us when we see developers strive to bring their titles or similar experiences into this market. After all, we have AAA games coming to these devices, such as the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake port from Capcom. However, one of the more popular games right now that countless players worldwide have enjoyed is Pokemon TCG Pocket.
This is far from the first Pokemon experience to land on devices like the iPhone or Android-based devices. We have even seen some success with Pokemon on these devices, as I’m sure you all can remember the Pokemon Go craze. However, the game that has sparked so much interest is a card game that taps back into the early years of this franchise.
Today, thanks to a report from Pocket Gamer, we’re learning that Pokemon TCG Pocket has already surpassed an outstanding $120 million. This is just three weeks after the game initially launched into the marketplace. That also doesn’t look to be slowing down, as the reports indicate that earnings are still hitting new daily highs.
It’s a simple gameplay experience that can touch on nostalgia. Players earn the ability to open booster packs and create their own virtual Pokemon TCG decks. From there, they can battle against NPCs in a single-player experience or face off against other players. Of course, there’s the option to spend real money to buy more packs of these virtual cards quicker than earning them in-game.
We already know that DENA, the game’s developers, aim to deliver more booster pack themes. Furthermore, a trading feature is being added to the game, which might help players get rid of duplicates and obtain some of the more desired cards. But beyond that, we’ll have to wait and see what the developers opt to bring out next for this mobile game hit.
