Score yourself some ‘Net Profit‘ in Astro Bot with this shiny Gold Butterfly in the Apes On The Loose level. This level gives Astro Bot a net and the chance to hunt for those tricky Ape Escape monkeys. Ape Escape was a beloved series of silly platformers on PS1 and PS2 all about catching apes in creative ways, but we’re not netting monkeys this time. This is all that gold. The Gold Butterfly is the trickiest catch in the level and very easy to miss. Here’s everything you need to know to get it.

Net Profit Trophy Guide
Start the level Apes On The Loose in the Gorilla Nebula — this is the last level of the Gorilla Nebula where you’ll be running around on a stage inspired by Ape Escape. Collecting the Gold Butterfly unlocks the ‘Net Profit‘ trophy.
- Gold Butterfly Location: In the level Apes On The Loose (Gorilla Nebula) cross the rope bridge to gain the net power-up. Progress to the statue square — this is the large section of the level packed with monkeys to catch.
To reach the Statue Square, you’ll need to catch one ape. The first ape is located in the garden area — use the net [R2] on the bush in the center-right. This will raise a ramp to the square.
- Where To Find The Gold Butterfly: Go to the back-right corner of the main square. There’s a structure with a ladder — use the net on the green bush to the right of the ladder structure. This will cause the Gold Butterfly to appear.
The Gold Butterfly will immediately start flying around the giant statue, flying in circles. It moves faster than you, so you’ll need to move quick to get it — stick closer to the statue and grab it as it passes by. Use the rails around the statue to go faster and get ahead of it. You can’t easily catch it by chasing it on-foot, so watch its pattern and grind those rails to get one step ahead.
Collecting the Gold Butterfly unlocks the trophy — now you’ll need to finish the actual level! But that isn’t required here. That’s one more trophy unlocked in Astro Bot.
