Dead by Daylight Spinoff Project T Officially Canceled

September 18, 2024 by Carley Garcia

Early playtest feedback wasn’t too stellar.

In May, Behaviour Interactive revealed Project T, a 1-4-person co-op PvE shooter set in the world of Dead by Daylight. Unfortunately, the publisher has now announced that the title has been canceled following poor reviews from early playtesters.

The game, which was in early development at Midwinter Entertainment, hinted that players would “step into the role of Trespassers, a fierce group of characters trapped within a vast, unexplored region of The Entity’s Realm called The Backwater.”

“When we conceptualized Project T, we wanted to have players involved in it as early as possible, which led to the creation of the Insiders Program,” Behaviour said in a new statement.

“This approach has allowed us to get very early validation on the project’s core design and gameplay, which is something that often comes much further into the production of a game. Following the playtest in July, we ran a thorough internal risk assessment from a product and commercial perspective.

“While a number of players expressed appreciation for what they played, unfortunately, the outcome of this deep analysis yielded unsatisfactory overall results.”

Earlier this month, the Dead by Daylight spinoff title The Casting of Frank Stone was released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S to mixed reviews.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that Project T has been canceled. We want to thank you for your support throughout this journey,” Behaviour concluded.

Despite this hiccup, the original title continues to be a huge hit with horror fans. Dead by Daylight is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. A Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover is coming in 2025.
