The Witcher franchise has a strong following, with fans still praising CD Projekt Red’s work for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But years after its release, one modder restored some cut content for the base game campaign ending in The Witcher 3, giving fans a new scene, even if it’s just a small addition to an ending.
There’s bound to be plenty of scrapped content that CD Projekt Red never developed for The Witcher 3. However, it’s interesting to see cut content that could be restored and returned to the game. Thanks to IGN, we’re discovering that one modder did just that for a specific ending you could unlock in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s base campaign. It’s not much and likely doesn’t offer anything regarding what to expect from The Witcher 4.
Instead, modder merigoldmaribor managed to restore a scene for the ending in which Geralt meets Ciri at the inn. After presenting a sword to Ciri, the two set off to Ellander. It’s noted in the scene that Yennefer of Vengerburg or Triss Merigold is waiting for them at this location; the person mentioned depends on who Geralt romances in the game.
Again, there’s not much of anything here to get too excited about, but it’s at least some new content for fans of the franchise. We’re still left waiting for our first real look at the next installment of The Witcher.
We last heard that developers were soon wrapping up pre-production for The Witcher 4. Additionally, we learned that while Geralt will appear in The Witcher 4, he won’t be the main protagonist for players. Likewise, we learned that we could soon see new mobile games from The Witcher franchise as part of CD Projekt Red’s strategy going forward. But for now, we’ll have to wait for more information on the mobile games from CD Projekt Red and The Witcher 4 to come out.
