You might head into Hades 2 thinking you are in for a ghost-slapping, god-slaying romp through the Underworld. Whilst this is true to some extent, you might be shocked to find out that a huge part of the game’s progression is tied to hitting rocks, reeling in fish, and nabbing flowers.
Crafting, upgrading, unlocking, and incanting are all part of the Hades 2 experience, and if you aren’t prepared for a little bit of grinding, you might not be in for a good time. One of the many resources you can find is Myrtle and in this guide, we are going to walk you through how to find it and what you can use it for.

Where To Find Myrtle In Hades 2
Myrtle is one of the harder resources to find in Hades 2. This is for several reasons, but the biggest is that it can only be found in one of the later regions in the game. Not only that, it is locked behind a pretty substantial skill check (Scylla). If you want to get your hands on Myrtle, you have to reach The Fields Of Mourning, and this is not an easy task for new players.
The Fields Of Mourning are the third area in Hades 2, and this is the only play you will find Myrtle. It will not spawn anywhere else. Not only that, like most resources, you can’t buy it from Charon, you can’t grow it at the Crossroads, and the Wretched Broker won’t trade it for Bones. If you want Myrtle, you have to manually hunt it down during a run.
Thankfully, being a wild plant means that Myrtle doesn’t require any specific tool to gather. All you have to do is walk up and interact with it. Each plant will reward you with a single piece of Myrtle and you can expect to find 1 or 2 plants per run – 3 if you are lucky.
The issue with wild plants is their low yield and your inability to increase their spawn chance. Because of this, you want to make sure you are picking every plant that spawns during a run. This can be difficult in the Fields Of Mourning as that region has uniquely massive rooms to explore.
To make tracking Myrtle down easier, we recommend using the Reagent Sensing Incantation. This will cause a guiding silver light to appear whenever a resource is in a room. Simply follow that light to claim your reward. Once unlocked, you will never miss another resource.
What Is Myrtle Used For In Hades 2
Like with many rare resources in Hades 2, Myrtle has a fairly limited selection of uses. It is used in less than a handful of Incantations, and that’s about it. Not only that, but those Incantations are fairly underwhelming from a progression standpoint. One of them simply makes traversing the Fields Of Mourning slightly easier, and the other allows you to track your relationships in the Book Of Shadows.
Both of these things are handy to have, but they aren’t necessarily game-changing additions to the game. Of course, Hades 2 is in Early Access so there could be more uses for Myrtle in the future – heck, there could be more uses that we have yet to see in the current build. Because of this, we highly recommend stockpiling this resource so you are not left high and dry when more content gets added.
Like with most wild plants in Hades 2, the Wretched Broker will not to buy Myrtle from you. You can only use this resource for upgrades.
