Hades 2 is overflowing with resources to collect, materials to mine, and things to find. Some are rarer than others, but arguably the rarest materials in the game come from the Abyss. There is only one way to enter this forbidden realm, and getting there offers no guarantee of material gain.
Plasma is one such material found within Chaos’s dark embrace, and whilst it is easier to find now with recent updates, throughout our many tens of hours of playtime, we have only managed to find two or three deposits. Every time you see this stuff you want to harvest it, and in this guide, we are going to walk you through how to get it, why you want it, and how to increase your gains.
Note: Do be aware that Hades 2 is still in Early Access, so anything and everything is subject to change.

Where To Find Plasma In Hades 2
Plasma is a node-based resource, which means you are not going to find it just lying around. You are going to need to have a specific tool unlocked and ready to go. In this instance, you need the Crescent Pickaxe. This is the first tool you unlock, so you should have this in your purse from fairly early on.
Just having the pickaxe will only get you so far, however. This is because Plasma can only be found in the Abyss, which in turn, can only be accessed via Chaos Gates. Unlike Hades 1 where these were very common occurrences, we have found Chaos Gates to be pretty darn rare in Hades 2.
Once you enter a Chaos Gate, keep your eyes peeled for a resource node. Hit it with your stick, gather your Plasma, and call it a day.
It’s important to note that you DO NOT need to have the pickaxe equipped to harvest Plasma. You simply need to have the tool unlocked.
What Is Plasma Used For
Unfortunately, as of writing, we are not sure what Plasma is used for. As Hades 2 is in Early Access, many things are not currently in the game. Whilst Plasma is in the game, the Incantations it’s required for, are not (as far as we are aware). If and when this changes, we will update our guide, but for now, keep gathering it when you can. It’s rare, so you don’t want to be left high and dry once the game is updated!
How To Get More Plasma In Hades 2
Like all mineable resources, you don’t need the Crescent Pickaxe equipped to harvest Plasma. That being said, you are far more likely to find those kinds of resources if you have them equipped before a run. Considering how rare Plasma is with the pickaxe equipped, you would be hard-pressed to ever find it without it.
The last thing you want to have happen is to enter a Chaos Gate and then not see the Plasma node. It can happen to the best of us, but it can also be avoided. The Reagent Sensing incantation creates a silver trail that leads to any gatherable resources in an area. Keep an eye out for it so you never miss out on Plasma again.
Whilst Chaos Gates are rare, you can access them from any region in the game. Unlike every other minable resource which can only be found in Erebus or Oceanus, etc. Plasma is technically accessible everywhere. Be sure to jump into every Chaos Gate you find to maximise your chances of finding it.
Following on from that, each Well Of Charon has a chance to spawn a boon that forces a Chaos Gate to spawn in the next area. If you are looking to grind Plasma, check every Well Of Charon.
Like with all resources, you don’t need to have the Crescent Pickaxe equipped to harvest Glassrock. However, your odds of finding Glassrock drastically increase if you bring the pickaxe with you. You are almost guaranteed a Glassrock node or two with the pickaxe, and you might get nothing at all without it. If you are looking to grind, take the pickaxe with you.
Finally, to truly maximise your gains, use the Greater Favour Of Gaia Incantation. This allows you to upgrade your tools. The Crescent Pickaxe will be upgraded to be able to mine from each node four times instead of three. Throughout a playthrough, this adds up.
That’s all we have on Hades 2 for now. Be sure to check out our other guides for more tips, tricks, and general content.
