Development on The Witcher 3 has not yet ended. With the impending release of the new Blood and Wine expansion, which is due to drop at some point before June, its creators at CD Projekt Red are adding a lot of polish to the existing game. Even so, the developers are also hard at work on other projects, including their upcoming sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.
The game was initially announced in 2012, and saw the release of a CGI trailer a year later. In the game, plays will take command of a unit of special forces operatives made up of mechanically augmented humans called the Psycho Squad.
The developers have not announced a solid release date for the game, but it’s not expected to be out any time soon. CD Projekt Red says that their programming team is currently working to overhaul the game’s development software.
“The most important thing that’s happening at the moment is that the programmers are taking the feedback we gave them from working on The Witcher 3,” visual effects artist Jose Teixeira said in an interview with iDigitalTimes.
“As cliche as it sounds it was a big learning experience. The programmers are updating our software quite drastically.”
We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as the game develops.
