Last week, The Wired released a new video interview featuring the famed game designer Todd Howard. The interview went over Todd’s career, and he pointed out some of the games he helped bring out into the marketplace from his time at Bethesda. However, the interview didn’t stop at just reflecting on the games the designer was a part of. Instead, there was also the mention of what awaits players as we know the next major game project will be The Elder Scrolls VI. However, before we get to that game, we know there is still a rather large team supporting some past games. Included in that list is Starfield.
Todd Howard noted that there are still about 250 developers working on Starfield right now. That shouldn’t surprise anyone, as the game just released. We have several updates coming to the game; beyond that, there is DLC. Unfortunately, details about the first expansion are still a bit scarce. We know that it’s called Shattered Space, and being that Starfield takes place across countless planets, there are endless possibilities that Bethesda could offer fans through DLC. Meanwhile, fans online are certainly hopeful that the DLC adds enough content to potentially turn it around for players who felt the base game was missing the mark.
For instance, fans have voiced frustration on a Reddit thread that there are not enough varied environments to improve encounters. So we’ll just have to wait and see what is officially brought out into the game next. However, we don’t have to rely only on developers to add content to the game. We know that mod support is coming to the title soon. This was confirmed to land into the game sometime in early 2024. That mod support will also land for all supported platforms, so the community will soon be able to make unique adjustments to the game for others to enjoy.
Again, with Starfield being such a massive playground for players, it could prove to last quite a while for fans. If you haven’t already picked up a copy of the game, Starfield is available to play on both PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. However, since this is also a first-party Microsoft title, you’ll find that Starfield will be available to enjoy on the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. We also have a Before You Buy video coverage of the game. If you want our personal impressions of the game, then check out our Before You Buy video below.
