The zombie apocalypse may be inevitable, but you can get good practice for it by playing these titles!
#5 7 Days to Die
The irony of playing open-world zombie games like 7 Days to Die is that, if TV and movies are anything to go by, we might one day ourselves be in a massive world full of zombies! So, you know, use this as “training” for “what’s to come.” You dig?
In the title, you’ll be dropped in a massive world full of potential and dangers. You’ll need to find weapons and supplies to not just survive the living and undead threats all around you but build shelters so you can catch your breath and prepare for the next obstacles.
Whether you play alone or with friends, you WILL be tested here, so brace for that.
#4 State of Decay 3
Do we know much about State of Decay 3? Well, no. The game was announced a while back, but things have gone quiet on the title ever since. There was even a rumor that dropped, stating that the game wouldn’t be ready to launch until 2027! That would be quite a long way away for all the wrong reasons.
But if it were to come out sooner, then gamers could expect much of the zombie action and survival that made the first two games fun. The second title even had you watching over a community to try and keep everyone alive. So we’ll have to see what they have planned next.
#3 Wanderlost
Despite what people might tell you, not all zombie survival games have to look grim and depressing. Wanderlost proves that by putting players into a procedurally generated world where they can go on forever should they desire. All they have to do is remember to survive.
Out in the wilderness, zombies and other threats await. As a result, you’ll need to get supplies, build a base, and be prepared for whatever else comes your way. Plus, given the vastness of this world, you could decide to do nothing more than dominate the planet, and you’ll have that option. Doesn’t that sound great?
#2 Night of the Dead
Technically, the game has been out on Steam Early Access since 2020, but the full game is set to arrive in 2024. So, if you’ve been waiting for the “full experience,” here you go.
Night of the Dead features a woman named Lucy who is trapped in a city where zombies are everywhere. Oh, and she was somehow part of a “human experiment,” we’re sure the two aren’t related.
The good news is that there are other survivors that she can communicate with. You’ll guide her through the city and help her survive each day so that she can get out and be free. Do what it takes to beat the horde and survive!
#1 S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
The sad irony of this title is that the game should’ve been out by now. But world events led to it being delayed out of respect.
Even with that happening, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl aims to release in 2024 and bring players back to the exclusion zone. But it’s not the same zone that you know. After all, in the previous title, another bomb went off, completely changing the area’s landscape once again.
You’ll go into the zone to get treasures to sell, find out truths about the place, and fight the monsters that live within. The game has a non-linear story, so you’ll have many ways you can enjoy it.
