Some video game characters look remarkably a lot like the gods and goddesses who make up much of the Buddhist and Taoist pantheons, whose likenesses are carved into gigantic statues in the Far East.
One elderly woman may have mistaken the League of Legends champion Garen as Guan Yu, a famous general from feudal China who earned a mythical reputation for his mastery of the battlefield. Users on the Chinese website Sina shared images of the old lady offering incense and kneeling before Garen, not realizing that it was of a video game character. The gigantic statue stands outside a popular internet café.
