The Engineer is a hidden archetype in Remnant 2 — and when we say hidden, we mean extremely hidden. It is almost impossible for a regular player to find this extremely powerful class. It isn’t just powerful, it’s also great for solo players and can be unlocked very early in the game. You can give yourself essentially an extra ally in combat to draw threat attention and deal damage at the same time.

Engineers are tanky support fighters than can drop down an auto-turret that unloads killer damage while you’re free to run around. This power is surprisingly strong against boss fights — useful for dealing direct damage with Heavy Weapons, or by dealing constant damage while you dodge around the arena. The Engineer is an extremely powerful class that can even provide damage reduction to your entire team. Here’s how to get it without ripping your hair out first.

How To Unlock The Engineer Archetype

Engineer Class Location: N’erud – Timeless Horizon or Eon Vault. You need to collect a hidden item called the Alien Device and the Technician Armor Set.

  • Go to the Timeless Horizon or Eon Vault, in the second biome of the game. The key item is located in one of these two locations — depending on how your random world is generated. You should only get one of the two locations.
  • Explore the foggy edges of the map. You must search for a dead body in the fog. A body is on a ledge you can reach by jumping, while the Alien Device is below. You’ll die when entering the fog — you’ll need to roll to survive long enough to grab both items.
  • To find the right location, look for a rocky ledge about your character’s normal jump height on the left, with a trio of rock spires on the right — there’s an empty space you can roll through between both landmarks. Use the pictures above to find the randomly generated location. The spot on the map always looks the same even if the location is randomized.

Collect the Technician Armor on the right and collect the Alien Device on the left. Drop down to get it. Give the device to Wallace to unlock the Engineer Archetype. Wallace will craft something called the Dryzr Caliper Engram which unlocks the Engineer.

  • NOTE: Finding this archetype is much easier if you unlock the Explorer / Treasure Hunter Archetype. This bonus class is unlocked after completing the campaign for the first time. When using Hunter Sense, you’ll highlight items too.

Wallace is the vendor near the wrecked ship in the crane container house. Talk to him to unlock the archetype. To unlock it, you need x1 Alien Device, x10 Lumenite Crystals, and x1000 Scraps. Lumenite Crystals are dropped by tough enemies in N’erud. You’ll get plenty while exploring.

What Does The Engineer Do?

The Engineer is a heavy weapon user that can summon a turret. It will prioritize whatever target you’re aiming at and will keep firing until you run out of ammo.

  • Engineer Skills:
  • Summons a Heavy Weapon Vulcan Cannon, Flamethrower or Impact Cannon.
  • You can only use one Heavy Weapon or deploy one turret at a time.
  • All Heavy Weapons can be deployed as turrets that continues to fire until it runs out of ammo. Turret prioritizes the target you aim at.
  • Reclaim the turret to return 75% of its ammo.
  • Heavy Weapon Ammo is regenerated by a certain percentage every second, and turrets can only be deployed with 25% ammo available.

Their perks increase skill damage, grants damage reduction to allies, increases movement speed when using heavy weapons, and using relic healing grants Heavy Ammo.

  • The Engineer Archetype Trait increases armor effectiveness.

The Engineer is a tanky support class that can deal constant damage, pull aggro from enemies and use powerful heavy weapons. The Engineer is an extremely useful class for teams or for solo players. Unlock it very early to blast major bosses down to size easily.
