A new video, which you can see above, claims to show leaked Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay footage.
NeoGAF user Taker34, who found the footage, wrote: “I just found an interesting video/reel on a website of a certain developer who is currently working on Andromeda. The clip contains a few seconds of gameplay, so I thought you guys might want to take a look at it.”
The video was posted last night, on April 1st, and it may well be an elaborate April Fool’s joke. In the footage, we see a canister of some kind, a krogan (one of the races from the original trilogy), and the game’s jetpack in use.
Shinobi602, a usually reliable industry insider, said “This is around a late 2014 build. It doesn’t look like this now.”
Earlier this week, a marketing survey leaked, revealing story details about the game. According to the survey, “Mass Effect: Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way, where players will lead the fight for a new home in hostile territory—where WE are the aliens—opposed by a deadly indigenous race bent on stopping us.”
Player choices will determine the ability of the human race to survive in the Andromeda galaxy.
Details about why humanity and the other races of the Milky Way are trying to colonise another galaxy have not yet been confirmed. Additional leaks last year suggested that humanity’s efforts would be challenged by the Khet race.
The 2015 E3 trailer for the game confirmed the return of the mako vehicle, which will be customisable. Andromeda’s playable human character is believed to be called Ryder and go by the gender-neutral Pathfinder title. The character will be a member of the Alliance N7 military program.
Mass Effect Andromeda is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and is expected to launch in early 2017.
