How To Unlock The Custom Death Match Easter Egg
To unlock this Easter egg, you need to reach Block 3A Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match. This is one of three storylines you can unlock in Chapter 3.
- How To Unlock the Historic Customization:
- A special Easter Egg custom item will only unlock after completing the ‘Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match‘ storyline in Road To Elite mode.
- The storyline is in Chapter 3. You can get 1 of 3 storylines in this chapter. The storyline is seemingly random.
- Make sure you aren’t playing as Jon Moxley or Kenny Omega. We were able to reach this storyline when playing as Malakai Black.
After completing the storyline, go to ShopAEW and to the More Items tab. Purchase Option Death Match Explosion Type for $30,000. This unlocks the Historic Match Customization.
- How To Activate The Ring Customization: During an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match, go to Options after selecting your wrestlers.
- Go to the Match Tab and change Death Match Explosion Type to Historic. That’s it! Enjoy your gentler explosions.
This storyline involves challenging Jon Moxley or Kenny Omega to an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match. To unlock the custom item, you’ll need to complete the Block 3A storyline. This can be done relatively easily on Easy difficulty.
- NOTE: We got this storyline after Block 2C ‘Dance With Death‘ — and after losing against Death Triangle.
What Is The Death Match Easter Egg?
This Easter egg references an infamous botch during the main event of Revolution 2021 — during this match, Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega fought in an Exploring Barbed Wire Death Match. This ridiculous gimmick match involves ring ropes covered in barbed wire and explosives that are set to destroy anything in the ring after the time limit.
During the Revolution 2021 PPV, when the timer counted down to zero, the ‘explosives‘ were hilariously weak. Instead of enveloping the wrestling ring in fire or looking like an explosion at all, the bombs weakly burst into a small puff of smoke. Hardly dangerous and extremely funny.
The ‘Historic‘ custom arena item causes your AEW Fight Forever Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatches to end in a pathetic puff of smoke instead of a massive explosion. The name is self-deprecating, letting us all remember the historic botch in the early years of AEW.
