Fans of the point-and-click adventure genre along with the video game series Samorost may be delighted to know that Samorost 3 has released today for the Microsoft PC and Mac OS X. This is the third installment of the Samorost series and the second installment to see a release outside of a web browser.
The Samorost 3 video game came from independent video game developers Amanita Design located within the Czech Republic. Their latest notable releases have been Machinarium and Botanicula, both of which have been in the point-and-click graphic adventure genre. Now the development team has released their latest full-length video game for the Microsoft PC and Apple OS X.
According to a press release that was sent out earlier today, Samorost 3 will be a loose follow-up to Samorost and its sequel, Samorost 2. This particular title will follow a curious space gnome who uses a mysterious magical flute to travel through the cosmos in search of its origins. Players will meet new creatures as they travel across a total of seven planets.
Interestingly enough, Samorost happened to be the first video game released by developers Amanita Design. The game was released in 2003 for web browsers and it wasn’t until 2005 that the game received its sequel, Samorost 2 which is currently available for Microsoft PC, Mac OS X, and Linux.
Currently, independent developers Amanita Design is working on their next project which is known as Chuchel, a puzzle-based video game though it’s undecided at the moment what platforms the video game will launch on or if this will see a web browser release.
