The introduction of Mass Effect 3's co-op multiplayer mode doesn't mean BioWare is eager to abandon single-player DLC, according to director Casey Hudson.
“There’s some multiplayer stuff, but we’re also planning some DLC on the single-player side," he told Game Informer in a recent interview.
Mass Effect 2's DLC was well received, largely due to its novel approach. Rather than tacking new story content onto the end of the game, BioWare instead opted to beef up the campaign with new sqaud members and side-missions, providing tons of new content to explore without altering the meticulously constructed story.
Hudson says Mass Effect 3 will follow a similar approach, though he's keeping the specifics under wraps. "The adventure-type DLC will happen in the time frame of Mass Effect 3, within your Mass Effect 3 storyline. It’s similar to how with Mass Effect 2, if you had a saved game from anywhere inside the game, you could go on to the DLC. We have a pretty neat concept for how it’s going to work."
Mass Effect 3 will be out on the 360, PS3, and PC on March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe.
