Steam has hit over 5 million concurrent players. I, for one, welcome our overlords at Valve with open arms.
Steam has seen an incredible amount of success over the last few months, and now they have the numbers to prove it. According to their stats page, Steam has seen a peak of over 5 million people logged in at once.
While the Steam Christmas sale no doubt contributed to these obscene numbers, it looks like Valve can thank Skyrim for the milestone. Skyrim has some mammoth stats behind it, making Valve’s second most popular game, Team Fortress 2, looking a little… overshadowed.
This leaves us wondering how Origin is doing, but because Origin doesn’t release their stats to the public, it doesn’t look like we’ll find out until they want us to. With Star Wars: The Old Republic under their belt, though, it’s safe to say they aren’t going hungry.
Now, Valve, take all this money and use it to produce Left 4 Dead 3. Come on. I’ve been good.
